CHICAGO — An investigation is underway on Friday morning after two people were fatally shot inside a home on the city's West Side overnight.
According to police, the shooting unfolded around 10:45 p.m. in the 800 block of North Parkside Avenue in Austin.

Officers were first called to the scene following a report of gunshots coming from a basement in the area. They arrived on the scene and found the victims, a 47-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man.

The 47-year-old woman suffered a gunshot wound to her chest, and the 27-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body. Both were later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following the shooting, the alleged gunman was taken into custody, and charges against them are currently pending. Two firearms were also recovered on the scene.
Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and authorities have not yet identified the victims killed.
