A woman and a police officer were shot and another person was injured in a shooting that broke out near Notre Dame's campus in South Bend, Indiana, on Saturday.
Authorities said the shots rang out around 6:30 p.m. CT, shortly after tailgating was shut down at Notre Dame and crowds began moving towards Eddy Street Commons, according to North Bend's NBC affiliate station, WNDU.

A fight broke out near Eddy Street and Angela Boulevard and a shot was fired, police said. A woman was shot and the police officer was hit by either shrapnel or a ricochet, police said. Both were taken to a local hospital and were expected to recover.
A third person was also injured during the incident, but not by the gunfire, police said. It was believed they were likely hurt during the fire, police said.
After the shooting, parking garages and businesses were cleared and people were moved out of Eddy Street commons.
The area remained shut down for a police investigation as of 9:20 p.m. and it was not immediately clear when it would reopen.
