Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed an 83-year-old man in South Los Angeles.
On Sept. 30, Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a crash near Central Avenue and 69th Street around 8:43 p.m.
The victim, Akil Batani-Khalfani, 83, of Los Angeles, was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a driver in a dark blue, four-door sedan.
The driver fled the scene without stopping to help the victim. The elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

"Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves," LAPD said.
