Andrew Romero, 18, faces two counts of third-degree rape.
Andrew Romero, 18, of Abbeville. (Brusly Police Department) On Sept. 11, Brusly police learned of a sexual assault involving two teenage girls and that the suspect, later identified as Romero, left the scene, investigators said.
The teens told police they had met Romero online and had been talking with him for about three weeks over TikTok and Snapchat, police said. The teens said they were under the impression he was 17 years old and living in the Lafayette area.
According to police, the girls invited Romero to their home to watch a movie. He then drove his mother’s car to their home in Brusly. There, police say Romero sexually assaulted the two girls and left the scene. One of the girls then ran to the neighbor’s home and called 911.
Police say they used information from social media, crime cameras, and investigative software to identify Romero as the suspect.
