The European garlic market looks very different this year compared with recent years. According to Joey Deen of Denimpex, good harvests in several growing countries are resulting in plentiful global supplies. At the same time, the importer is seeing further growth in interest in Chinese garlic in Europe. "The quality is consistent and, particularly in the case of small packs, the price difference compared with European garlic is significant."

According to Joey, the ample supply is coming from various parts of the world. "It's not just China and Spain that have had a good harvest. Volumes are also high in countries such as Korea, Indonesia, and India. Furthermore, the outlook for Chile, Argentina, and Brazil points to good harvests. When countries have more of their own produce available, the need for imports decreases. We're seeing this in international trade."
