Case Summary
The patient, a middle-aged male, presented with abdominal pain and was classified as CTAS 3 under the Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale. His past medical history included mild gastritis but no significant health issues. During the health assessment, blood tests revealed elevated white blood cells, indicating possible inflammation. An ultrasound showed an inflamed appendix, leading to a diagnosis of acute appendicitis. The patient received appropriate pain management and surgical consultation. The final diagnosis was confirmed through a laparoscopic appendectomy, successfully resolving his symptoms.
Evidence-Based Practice

I accessed research articles through PubMed and Google Scholar, which informed my decision to recommend an ultrasound to evaluate potential causes.
