United States Air Force Academy Unveils New Air Power Legacy Series Uniforms
The United States Air Force Academy's football team revealed its newest Air Power Legacy Series uniform on Tuesday, dedicated to honoring the iconic F-16 fighter jet.
Special Edition Jerseys for the October 4 Game
Scheduled to be worn during the game against Navy on October 4, these jerseys continue a tradition of special edition uniforms dating back to 2016. That year, the team sported shark-tooth helmets inspired by World War II aircraft nose art.
Design Features and Honors
This season’s design features a helmet resembling a fighter pilot’s gear, with the front displaying a silhouette of the F-16 aircraft. Additionally, the helmet bears the call sign “Psycho,” honoring Col. William Andrews, an Air Force alumnus shot down during Operation Desert Storm.
Uniform Details
The uniforms also include the word “Viper” along one leg, a common nickname for the F-16, and “Fighting Falcon” on the other, referencing the aircraft’s official name.
