The Alabama Department of Workforce has announced a new way to verify unemployment throughout the state.
The department launched Login.gov, a place where individuals filing an initial unemployment compensation claim in Alabama will verify their identity.
This website will be accessible starting Sept. 30. Claimants will start the process through the Alabama Unemployment Claimant Portal and then complete identity verification within 10 calendar days of initial filing.
Login.gov will become the primary identity verification method for initial claims as the process goes into effect.
The website makes it easier for the claimant to navigate the process. An Identity Verification link will appear on the Claimant Portal home screen and completely direct the claimant through the required steps.
“Login.gov gives claimants a secure, straightforward way to complete this important step online. We encourage anyone filing an initial claim to begin promptly and follow every instruction through the final confirmation screen,” said Alabama Department of Workforce Secretary Greg Reed.
