GRAND FORKS — Inpatient admissions and emergency room volume at the Devils Lake hospital have increased 20% since Altru Health System officially took over in in the spring. In the same time, the facility has also doubled the average number of patients hospitalized each day.
Tanner White, CEO of Altru Devils Lake, believes the increase reflects the trust patients are placing in the Altru team to provide high-quality care close to home.

Ownership of the Devils Lake hospital — formerly known as CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake — was officially transitioned from CHI CommonSpirit Health to the Altru Health System on March 1. It was the culmination of a transition that began with a letter of intent in 2024.
