GIFFORD, Ill. (WCIA) -- People living along U.S. Route 136 near Gifford were left in disbelief on Friday after a small airplane made an emergency landing on the highway.
The landing happened at around 10:42 a.m. between Gifford's village limits and Gordyville USA. Surveillance footage from the entertainment venue showed the plane narrowly flew over a U.S. Post Office van before touching down. The plane was eventually parked in a driveway, leaving the road open to traffic.

One homeowner was checking recently poured concrete when it happened.
"I just heard three screeches, kind of like you would hear at an airport or somewhere like that, or maybe somebody hitting the brakes real hard, and then looked over to see what was happening.
