Ameren Transmission Hosts Community Open Houses to Discuss Illinois Valley Reliability Initiative
In a move to enhance regional energy infrastructure, Ameren Transmission is conducting in-person community open houses this week in Bureau and LaSalle counties to gather public feedback on the proposed Illinois Valley Reliability Project. This initiative aims to bolster energy reliability and resilience throughout the area.
The first sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, August 5, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Bureau County Metro Center, located at 837 Park Ave. West, Princeton. The following day, Wednesday, August 6, similar sessions will occur from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Peru City Hall, 1901 4th St., Peru.
The project involves constructing approximately 23 miles of new 138-kilovolt transmission lines, upgrading the Princeton substation, and building a new switching station named Lima near Peru. The new transmission line will connect the Lima station to the upgraded substation.
