American Idol alum Caleb Flynn’s murder trial, which entered its sixth day Friday, has concluded for the week. Police interviews played in court detailed the story Flynn told investigators following the death of his wife, Ashley.
Prosecutors allege Flynn murdered his wife at their home in Tipp City, Ohio, shooting her twice in the back of the head as she slept during the early morning hours of Feb. 16. Flynn then staged the scene to look like a break-in, prosecutors allege, before calling 911 and reporting that an intruder had entered the home.
He is also charged with tampering with evidence and intimidating a witness. Flynn, who appeared on Season 12 of American Idol, pleaded not guilty to all charges.
In footage played in court, Flynn told investigators he was in another room when his wife was murdered.
Detective Sgt. Mike Morgan of Tipp City took the stand and testified that Flynn called 911 at approximately 2:30 a.m. following the murder. The first interview with Flynn began about two hours later, followed by a second interview at 12:39 p.m. that afternoon.
