Apple didn't go with the rumored iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra names for its first foldable iPhone. It went in an entirely unexpected direction by calling its first attempt at a foldable the iPhone Duo.
The company made a deliberate decision to not use any variation of the nomenclature that it uses for its existing iPhone lineup. It chose two syllables with the precision that Apple applies to every product name it finalizes.
What's interesting to note, and important for Samsung to consider, is that the Duo doesn't describe the folding mechanism that makes it an interesting device. It describes the relationship between the two screens and how Apple envisions it will provide value to users.
Apple's product naming scheme is typically less about the technology and more about what it does for the user, particularly when it enters a category that others have already populated.
