Arevon Initiates Construction of $600 Million Energy Storage Facility in Poway, California
Arevon Energy, based in Arizona, has commenced construction of the Nighthawk Energy Storage Facility in Poway, California. This significant project involves a 300 MW/1,200 MWh lithium iron phosphate battery system, representing an investment of $600 million. Arevon will operate and own the facility, which is designed to enhance grid stability by storing electricity during low-demand periods and releasing it during peak times. The Nighthawk plant will connect to the power grid at the Sycamore Canyon Substation near Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, supplying electricity to the greater San Diego region. The project is anticipated to generate over $30 million in local government revenues, supporting infrastructure, education, and public services, with Poway expected to receive approximately $12 million of this amount. Construction is being carried out by California-based Rosendin, and the project is expected to create over 130 jobs at its peak.
