A court in Argentina has ordered Google to compensate a man after a nude photo of him, taken within his private property, was captured and displayed via Street View images. The incident occurred in 2017 when Google’s camera recorded the man, a police officer, unclothed behind a two-meter-high wall in his yard, revealing his house number and street name publicly. The man argued that this exposure damaged his dignity, leading to embarrassment both professionally and socially. Previously, a different court dismissed his damages claim, citing his own conduct in the garden as the reason. However, the appellate court found that Google’s failure to sufficiently protect his privacy constituted an unjustified intrusion.
