Raiffeisen Ware Austria Launches Largest Agrivoltaic Installation in the German-speaking World
Raiffeisen Ware Austria (RWA) has officially launched the biggest Agrivoltaic (Agri-PV) installation in the German-speaking world, situated in Bodensdorf. Positioned above a blueberry cultivation owned by the Wurzer family, this nearly two-hectare project integrates renewable energy with agriculture. The system comprises 4,764 solar modules designed to produce around 1.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, sufficient to supply approximately 570 households.
Agricultural Production Beneath Solar Arrays
Beneath the solar array, the farm continues to cultivate about 2,000 blueberries, 800 raspberries, and 160 blackberries. The Agri-PV setup creates a protective environment that shields the crops from extreme weather events like heavy rain, hail, frost, storms, and excessive heat, promoting stable growth.
