EASTON — The owner of an Easton motorsports company on Tuesday pleaded guilty to felony theft scheme for stealing tens of thousands of dollars, falsifying paperwork and underreporting prices of jet skis, dirt bikes and trailers.
Robert David Michael, 56, entered the plea in Anne Arundel Circuit Court to four counts: theft scheme over $100,000, identity fraud scheme from $25,000 to $100,000, perjury and false income tax filings. Michael is owner and operator of B&E Motorsports off of Route 50 in Easton.
The Office of the Attorney General prosecuted the case. In a press release, the office said both parties have agreed to an 18-month jail sentence. Michael’s official sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 27.
His attorney, Caroline Norman Frost, did not return a request for comment by Wednesday evening.
“Every dollar stolen through tax fraud is a dollar that should have gone toward roads, schools, services and protecting the environment and Maryland’s natural resources,” Attorney General Anthony Brown said in the press release. “My Office will continue to protect the integrity of our State’s systems and hold wrongdoers accountable.”
