A man from Bastrop was fatally electrocuted in Elgin early on August 1st, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. at 301 East 1st Street, where police responded to reports of an individual possibly being electrocuted. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 47-year-old Gary Ferguson lying atop an electrical transformer platform. Investigations suggest that Ferguson was attempting to steal copper wiring, as evidenced by the tools found near the scene.
