The Beaver Dam High School girls golf team will compete in the Badger Large Conference Championship Wednesday at Lake Windsor Golf Club near DeForest.
The Golden Beavers enter the tournament with plenty of momentum. Head coach John Nortman says the team has followed a familiar pattern this season—starting slowly before lowering its scores and improving as the year has progressed.
“We have gotten better and better as the year has gone along,” Nortman said. “I’m very excited about what’s going to happen tomorrow.”
Beaver Dam’s varsity lineup includes senior Mia Nortman, senior Kamryn Albert, junior Ellie Klug, junior Marissa Meyers and standout senior McKenna Nelson.
Nelson, who won the 2024 WIAA Division One State Championship as a sophomore, is committed to play Division One golf at Bowling Green State University. Nortman calls Nelson the team’s “rock” and says she has consistently placed herself near the top of every leaderboard.
Nelson will be challenged for the individual conference title by DeForest’s Abby Henricksen. Nortman says the two golfers are close friends and have already won a two-player event together.
