BELTON — Bell County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Cliff Coleman held a press conference Monday morning to provide preliminary information about two fires reported over the weekend.
The first fire occurred in the 11,400 block of State Highway 36, where crews contained and brought multiple structure fires under control.
An older single-wide mobile home, a garage and a shed were destroyed, along with a vehicle and an RV. A neighboring home was affected by its proximity to the fire but did not sustain direct fire damage, according to Coleman.
Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield responded to the scene, pronounced one person dead and ordered an autopsy. The Sheriff’s Office said the person was discovered beneath the main structure of the mobile home. The office did not release the person’s name.
“Sadly, a deceased individual was discovered inside one of the structures. The Bell County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the individual’s family and loved ones,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in a post on social media.
