John Berg will discuss spinal cord injury awareness at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Oct. 6 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St.

The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.; socializing is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. A catered lunch is available for $25, or attendees can bring their own meal.

Berg, a vocational rehabilitation and litigation consultant, will share what daily life can be like when mobility becomes a challenge. “As we age, many of us experience difficulties with walking, climbing stairs and accessing everyday spaces. These challenges can also affect people living with stroke, multiple sclerosis, and hip or knee problems,” he said.

Berg previously served as director of vocational rehabilitation counseling at Cascade Rehabilitation Counseling and has also held positions with Vocational Consulting.
