Berrien County rallies for 16-year-old Colton Baggett as he battles leukemia

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. (WSBT) — It's the most common form of childhood cancer.

Leukemia accounts for nearly 1/3 of all cases, according to the American Cancer Society.

The Berrien County community is rallying around Colton Baggett, a 16-year-old battling the disease.

Organizers hosted a flag football fundraiser, hoping to ease the financial burden for Colton's treatment.

They say it was just one way to show the family that the community is behind him.

"I really wanted everyone to hear Colton's story, hear Colton's heart, his family's heart as well, and connect it to an individual. Yes, we we love to get to organizations, but let's make a difference to where people can see him, get in front of him. He can connect to his community and see that we're standing behind him," said Joy Bradley, Touchdowns for Colton Fundraiser Organizer.

All of the money from the fundraiser will be sent to the family through the Berrien County Cancer Service.
