The North Jackson Chiefs used 21 second-half points to pull away from Madison County Friday night at R.D. Hicks Stadium in Stevenson.
North Jackson (3-1, 2-1) beat its Class 3A Region 8 opponent by a final score of 37-18.
North Jackson head coach Joe Hollis was happy with how his team responded in the second half.
“We missed some opportunities in the first half, but I felt like the guys responded in the second half,” Hollis said. “We came out ready to play. We needed to get a stop on defense, then turn around and score, and that’s what we did.”
North Jackson got the scoring started Friday night. Logan Elliott’s 1-yard touchdown run was set up by a 49-yard run from Ace Jones that got the Chiefs into the red zone. Madison County (1-4, 0-3) hit back quickly as Cayden Owen’s 33-yard touchdown capped off a 1:24 scoring drive. The Tigers point after attempt was blocked, and North Jackson led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter.
