I had a remarkable birding experience earlier this week. Monday morning, a customer told me he’d seen two Lewis’s woodpeckers on his morning walk. He offered to show me where he’d seen them, so we met up after I got off work.
Interestingly, I had never visited this location before, and it was absolutely beautiful. The habitat was a mixture of Gambel’s oak, juniper, ponderosa pine and fir, and the location afforded amazing views of Skull Valley to the west and Prescott to the east.
