Authorities are warning residents in a Massachusetts community about a "rogue" coyote that eyed a toddler then bit a man on Friday night.
The wild encounter occurred in Haverhill, Massachusetts, which is around 35 miles north of Boston.
According to the Haverhill Police Department, the coyote was spotted "eyeballing" a 2-year-old, Remy, when a neighbor intervened.
Remy's mother, Katie Murphy, said her daughter was "blissfully unaware" of the danger he was in.
The coyote then bit that neighbor on the arm, and Remy's father grabbed a folding chair to defend against the animal.
"I saw the coyote on, like, on top of him. So, I just started hitting the coyote with it in the head," said John Murphy.
The neighbor struck the coyote with a shovel and thought he had killed it.
