The sugar daddy of the gun control movement is opening up his wallet and spending some serious cash in the last few weeks before Election Day.
The New York Times reports that Bloomberg is giving an additional $80 million to various Democrat-affiliated groups, including a sizable donation to his own network of anti-gun organizations.
Mr. Bloomberg is particularly focused on ensuring a sizable Democratic majority in the House of Representatives, the chamber that Democrats are most hopeful of flipping and that he tends to focus on. Mr. Bloomberg’s autumn budget is similar to what
[he spent during the fall 2018 campaign], which his team sees as the gold standard for when he was able to make an impact politically.
According to the Times, Everytown is getting $24 million, which will be used to bolster the campaigns of several anti-gun Democrats running for seats in the House of Representatives. Howard Wolfson, who's Bloomberg's political advisor, says his boss wants Hakeem Jeffries to have a "governable majority," and not just the bare minimum needed to take control of the lower chamber.
