BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) - A Boone County mother is speaking out as the search continues for her son, who has autism and has been missing since Tuesday.
"The last thing I said to him was I love you," said Kelly Backer, mother of 24-year-old Alexander Shear. "My other son saw him walking out of the house, and he was gone by the time I got up at nine in the morning."

"He means the world to my family," Backer said. "We're all devastated. Him leaving and being gone this long, he's never done this before. All I want is I want him back, and I want him alive."
The Boone County Sheriff’s Department is asking residents along Newport Road to check security cameras from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22. They say they believe he may have been walking in the area at that time.
