BOSSIER CITY, La. -- -Bossier City’s proposed 2027 day-to-day government operations – its general fund budget – calls for pulling $1.9 million out of reserves to cover an expected revenue shortfall next year.
The general fund represents Bossier's core city budget, like safety, streets and courts; its total budget of $321.6 million includes enterprise, internal-service, special-purpose and all other funds that operate separately, like sewer and water.
The budget worksheet said the city plans to spend about $85.8 million for day-to-day operations, while collecting $83.9 million in sales and property taxes, fees and other sources.
Reserves, or fund balance, is projected to decrease from $65.5 million to $63.6 million.
Brookshire Grocery Arena is expected to post an operating deficit of $350,000 next year. The city plans to transfer $145,225 into the Arena Fund, leaving a $6,234 shortfall.
This year, the Arena is performing substantially better than it did in 2025, bringing in an estimated $2.5 million more in revenue, with an 84% increase in concession sales, according to the budget.
The city is now budgeting for essentially flat-to-lower revenue in 2027, at around $6.6 million.
