Boyz II Men’s longevity has been built on a strong foundation and the ability to evolve without losing sight of where it all began.
More than three decades after emerging from Philadelphia and becoming one of the most recognizable groups in R&B, Boyz II Men continues to tour, create and introduce themselves to new generations. For founding member Shawn Stockman, returning home is also an opportunity to reflect on the city that helped shape the group long before its success stretched globally.
On Sept. 18, Boyz II Men will return to Philadelphia for a special performance with the Philly Pops at the Mann Center in Fairmount Park. The group has performed in its hometown many times throughout its career, but this homecoming offers something different: the chance to hear Boyz II Men, known for their signature vocal harmonies and melodies, reimagined alongside a live orchestra.
For Stockman, performing in Philly also carries an emotional connection that few other cities can replicate. It is where the group’s story began, making each return a reminder of both where they started and how far their journey has taken them.
