The Celtics may need to approach a Devin Carter deal with caution

The Boston Celtics recently signed Devin Carter to a training camp deal. The 2024 NBA lottery pick has spent his first two years in the league with the Sacramento Kings. However, earlier this summer, he was salary-dumped in a deal with the Atlanta Hawks and was ultimately waived by the franchise.
Now, Carter has a chance to grab an NBA lifeline, assuming he can impress Boston's coaching staff throughout their training camp and preseason preparations. He will face competition from Milos Uzan and Tucker DeVries, who were both part of Boston's Summer League roster earlier this summer.
Carter brings a high-energy approach to the court, thriving in the margins with active hands and a willingness to crash the glass. Unfortunately, he does struggle to shoot the ball across all three levels, which could hamper his chances of landing on Boston's roster via what will most likely be a two-way contract.
