In the wake of Athletic Director John Hartwell's unexpected resignation, the University of Louisiana Monroe has announced that head football coach Bryant Vincent will step into the role of interim Athletic Director. The appointment is effective immediately, subject to approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
ULM President Dr. Carrie L. Castille expressed confidence in Vincent's capabilities, stating, "I appreciate Bryant's willingness to serve as interim AD. He is a natural leader who fosters strong teams and communities."
Vincent, now in his second season as the Warhawks' head coach, previously guided the team to a 5-7 record—their best since 2019—and has garnered support from the university community.
Hartwell's departure comes amidst discussions about budget reductions within ULM Athletics. He resigned to pursue other professional opportunities; there is no indication that his exit was due to termination.
The university emphasizes its commitment to maintaining a competitive and cohesive athletic program during this period of transition.
