Boston University ICE Watch — a student-run committee founded in November 2025 to protect the BU Community from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement — is now housed under the independent University Revolutionary Socialists club, following the disbandment of Back Bay Young Democratic Socialists earlier this year.
BU ICE Watch serves as a branch of the LUCE Immigrant Justice Network of Massachusetts, which is a “coalition of immigrant-led, grassroots organizations who build people power for everyone across Massachusetts,” according to the official LUCE website.
BU ICE Watch is a “community defense program” created to verify ICE sightings and protect the BU community from ICE, according to the November 2025 Instagram post announcing the program’s launch.
Reyes Almeida, the “point person” for BU ICE Watch, said the committee will run “the exact same way” as it did under the BBYDSA, which disbanded and has now become URS. BU ICE Watch aims to protect BU students and residents of Allston and Brighton, they said.
