Buffs Doubles Team Advances To Second Round Of Bedford Cup

COLORADO SPRINGS - The Colorado Buffaloes tennis team opened the Bedford Cup competition Friday at the U.S. Air Force Academy, recording wins in both singles and doubles play on the first day of the three-day tournament.

Ikedo later carried the momentum into singles play, defeating her first opponent 6-0 in the opening set before securing a 6-4 victory in the second set to lead off individual competition.

The Buffs were unable to sustain the initial success through the remainder of the day, with both players falling short in their final singles matches of the afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Out of the gate, the Buffs duo showcased what could be a promising weekend, defeating Air Force doubles team Stephanie Marcheret and Tia Christopulos 6-2 to begin the tournament slate.

Entering singles play, Colorado looked to continue its success after the big doubles win.
