With three wins in as many tries on the young season, the Pendleton High School football team couldn’t be happier with where it sits record-wise.
But ahead of his team’s biggest challenge to date with a trip to Powdersville tonight, head coach Grayson Howell knows his young team is still growing and figuring things out.
“I think that's part of it, just still learning how to play and learning how to handle some success is a part of it,” he said. “We’re growing up, but we’re still young.”
The Bulldogs (3-0) come into tonight’s game off a 45-19 home win over Walhalla last week that reads well based on the final score alone. But Howell said there was still plenty left to be desired in the victory, including a turnover committed by the Bulldogs when they were up 14-0 that let the Razorbacks get back into the game.
“You can't do to give them any kind of momentum,” Howell said. “They return it, get it into their plus side of the field fairly deep and were able to throw a touchdown pass, and all of a sudden, we’ve got a game.
“Offensively, we scored some points, but I was not happy with the overall performance.”
