The new ice cream parlor and restaurant, owned by Karen Kapfer of Boonville, has been beautifully renovated. Stop by and check it out. Serving lunch and dinner. Having a great time at Freddy’s opening on Friday, were Karen Kapfer’s aunt Madeline Schoff, worker Elaine Kline, and Gussy Bourgeois.
50 YEARS AGOWEDNESDAY, OCT. 13, 1976CLOUD OF SMOKE SETTLES OVER VILLAGE — Last month at a Village Board meeting, Fire Chief David Pritchard was granted permission to purchase two more Scott air masks, bringing the total to four with four replacement tanks owned by the Boonville department. After last Wednesday’s fire which destroyed Holcombe’s Bakery and Coffee House and damaged an adjacent store, the firemen were grateful for the extra help. The smoke from the basically flameless fire settled down over the downtown are making breathing next to impossible. Several days later, business establishments were still “airing out.” Pritchard said he felt it was the grease on the bakery...
