Caitlin Clark played her part for Team USA during Sunday's FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup gold medal game against France. The Indiana Fever star guard helped the national team secure its fifth consecutive world championship with a 97-79 victory. She shared her thoughts about being a world champion in a postgame interview.
Clark finished with 12 points on 4-of-5 shooting, with three assists. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to represent the country. She added that she hopes for more medals and more chances to play for Team USA.
"It's pretty incredible," Clark said. "Obviously, anytime you get to wear the USA jersey, it's such an honor. You get to represent so many people in our country and obviously represent USA basketball. So I'm just really thankful.
"You get chills every time you look up at the flag and hear the national anthem when you have a medal around your neck. Hopefully, there's many more in the future, but just really thankful for this group and USA Basketball for this opportunity."
Team USA went undefeated in the tournament, finishing 6-0. Five of their victories were double-digit wins, which is a testament to their dominance.
