Inside California's Political Malaise: Republicans Fail to Resonate Beyond Apathy
During my recent campaign against Maxine Waters in California, I encountered three common reactions from voters: some were surprised to learn there are Republicans in Los Angeles; others expressed a sense of hopelessness, contemplating moving to more conservative states; and many voiced frustration with the local and state Republican parties, feeling they serve little purpose. While the first response sparked camaraderie, the latter revealed a deeper issue: widespread voter apathy.
Many registered Republicans in California feel disillusioned, perceiving voting as a futile gesture amid overwhelming Democratic dominance. Despite broad agreement across party lines that issues like rising crime, soaring living costs, homelessness, failing public schools, and population decline are worsening, the same Democratic officials remain in power.
