Cambodia has announced its intention to nominate President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, recognizing his role in mediating a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol stated that without Trump's intervention, the two nations might not have reached an agreement to end their border disputes. He also highlighted that Trump’s efforts extend beyond this conflict, advocating for his consideration for the award.
The ceasefire was achieved shortly after Trump issued warnings to both countries, indicating that their trade relations with the U.S. could be affected if hostilities continued. Notably, in June, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Pakistani government also nominated Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his work in reducing conflicts in the Middle East and South Asia.
Netanyahu praised Trump’s efforts, asserting that he deserved the accolade for his diplomatic achievements. Similarly, Trump’s administration credited him with facilitating a series of peace initiatives, including a ceasefire between India and Pakistan in May. The Nobel Peace Prize recipient will be announced in October.
