A Carmel man is accused of using his cellphone to take a photo up a shopper’s dress at a department store before fleeing the scene and attempting to hide the evidence.
Police arrested John Florencio, 28, Sept. 11 after they found him hiding in a wooded area along 106th Street after he allegedly fled on foot from the Target on Michigan Road in Carmel, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The victim told police she noticed Florencio using his phone to photograph up her dress as she reached for a bottle of honey and he appeared to crouch down to reach for a loaf of bread on a low shelf, the affidavit states.
The victim allegedly confronted Florencio and asked for his phone and began chasing him as he attempted to flee through the store.
“(The victim) stated she chased the accused to the exit doors as an unidentified good Samaritan Target employee assisted in (pursuing) the accused out of the store and northbound through the Target parking lot,” the affidavit states.
Police set up a perimeter and began searching for Florencio, whom they reportedly found hiding near a house. Florencio pleaded the fifth and declined to speak with investigators about the incident, the affidavit states...
