August Highlights: Celebrating Beloved Authors
This August, as highlighted in Reviews from the Stacks, the month's theme centers around beloved authors. Despite the challenge posed by the letter 'U' appearing twice in the month, selecting titles was manageable, involving tough choices among numerous options.
My August Selections Include:
- Pip Adam, a writer from New Zealand known for "Nothing to See" and "Audition."
- Rod Usher, an Australian expatriate author of the humorous novel "Poor Man’s Wealth."
- Graham Greene, a prolific author whose works I’ve reviewed here. Among his numerous books, "The Power and the Glory" remains my favorite.
- Sigrid Unset, a Norwegian novelist famous for the "Kristin Lavransdatter" trilogy and the first woman awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1928. The first book in the series is "The Wreath."
- Christina Stead, an author deserving her own feature at ANZLitLovers. Her debut novel, "Seven Poor Men of Sydney," is highly recommended.
