A Central City police officer has passed away.
The Central City Police Department (CCPD) said Officer Jason Phillips died at his home on Thursday.
Phillips joined CCPD in November 2020. According to the department’s website, Phillips was a police officer for 12 years.
“During his time with our department, he became much more that a coworker. He was our friend, our brother, and an important part of our police family,” CCPD said.
Phillips’ body was escorted by his fellow officers from the Muhlenberg/Ohio County line on the Western Kentucky Parkway to Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, as community members who wanted to show their respect to Phillips and his family were encouraged to line the processional route.
The CCPD described Phillips thusly in a Facebook post:
“Jason loved his family, his coworkers, and the community he served. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him knew his sense of humor. He loved to joke, could light up any room he walked into, and had a way of making even the difficult days at work a little easier. His personality, laughter, and friendship will be deeply missed throughout our entire department and our community.”
No cause of death has been released.
