Jackson’s exit forced Los Angeles to adjust its secondary in the middle of a matchup with Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen. The veteran cornerback had been listed as a potential starter on the Chargers’ unofficial depth chart entering the game, making his absence a significant change to their defensive rotation.
For the remaining cornerbacks, the challenge was immediate. Allen’s ability to extend plays can put added pressure on coverage, and an injury during the game gives the defense little time to settle into new assignments. The Chargers had to rely on their available defensive backs while keeping communication intact across the secondary.
