Chicago Police Investigate Attack by La Raza Gang Members Using AR-Style Rifle
In a recent incident in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood, law enforcement officials believe members of the notorious Mexican street gang La Raza launched a daring assault on police officers, resulting in injuries to two plainclothes officers. The officers were targeted while investigating a previous gang-related shooting.
According to police sources, the assailants used an AR-style semi-automatic rifle and a handgun to fire upon an unmarked police van. The attack occurred when two vehicles approached the van and opened fire without warning, striking the officers in the hip, arm, and back. Fortunately, both officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and have since been discharged from Stroger Hospital.
The incident has prompted a citywide manhunt for the suspects, believed to be affiliated with La Raza, who were seen fleeing in a Chrysler minivan from which a rifle and handgun were recovered.
