SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - City of Port Wentworth’s inaugural Garba Festival will bring communities together to celebrate a traditional Indian dance, food and music on Saturday at the Vystar Pavilion.
Port Wentworth City Councilmember Nishant Randerwala and City Manager Steve Davis joined Morning Break to share excitement for the free event. They said Garba Festival is a rain or shine event and festivities will take place under a covered space.
Randerwala says Garba is a traditional folk dance from Gujarat, India, in which participants gather in circles and move together to music. The evening will also feature Dandiya Raas, a dance performed with colorful sticks that are tapped together in rhythm.
