Don MacLeod, a writer and creative strategist based in Madison, New Jersey, announces the release of Whispers From the Battlefield, a novel in which Civil War soldiers at Gettysburg warn a Princeton historian that America is entering the same crisis cycle that produced their war. The book is available on Amazon beginning Friday, September 18.
The novel's premise has proven strikingly timely. In the week of its release, the United States saw the highest partisan approval gap ever recorded (approximately 80 points), and a University of California, Irvine study showing that one in three Americans has lost a relationship over political differences. Before the Civil War, the same pattern played out: churches split over a single political issue, armed legislators carried firearms into Congress, and whole regions sorted themselves into one-party territories.
