PIERZ — The Pierz football team convincingly demonstrated why it is ranked third in Class AAA.
The Pioneers beat the Minnewaska Lakers 60-0 on a wet and windy Friday night.

Pierz led 34-0 at halftime. The Pioneers held Minnewaska to 30 yards rushing and 19 passing on 49 plays.
Meanwhile, Pierz piled up 290 yards rushing and 52 more passing. Brayden Foust led the way, rushing 11 times for 138 yards and three touchdowns.
Pierz honored Hall of Fame football coach Leo Pohlkamp, who is now retired, by naming the field after him in ceremonies Friday night.
Minnewaska hosts Melrose at 7 p.m. next Friday at Veterans Field in Glenwood.
