Every year on the third Saturday in September, the KHS Class of 1962 gathers for lunch. For the last few years, they have been meeting at the Fireside Bar and Restaurant in Dennison.
The date, time and location were arranged by Harold Remme, the class president. He, by the way, grew up on the nearby Remme family farm.
This year, eight members and two guests attended. Jeannine Heil had to cancel for health reasons. After placing lunch orders, President Harold provided a tentative agenda.
First, there was a review of the list of 30 deceased classmates. Nine of the names were early years classmates who left before graduation. Twenty-one of the 62 graduates’ names were on it with Roger Broin of Arizona the most recent addition.
Dave Lenway gave a review of the Kenyon School Vikings Reunion held last month at the Kenyon-Wanamingo school. It was reported that 400 guests attended where they could visit various events throughout the building. One of our group talked about visiting the elementary classrooms in which we were the first students to be in the new building. One saw their sixth-grade room where their teacher was Mr. Crest.
