Colorado Law Enforcement Officers Under Investigation for Sharing Immigration Information

A growing number of law enforcement officers in Colorado are under disciplinary review for allegedly sharing information about undocumented immigrants with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Among those involved, Deputy Zwinck and three other sheriff's department personnel are currently on leave pending investigation. In a recent case, 19-year-old Caroline Goncalves was stopped by a sheriff's deputy on June 5th. During the stop, her personal details were reportedly circulated within a group chat involving sheriff's staff and subsequently shared with immigration authorities. An internal probe was launched to examine the conduct of the deputy responsible for the traffic stop and other officers participating in the chat. The findings of this investigation were publicly disclosed today, shedding light on the breach of protocol and the ongoing disciplinary processes.
