The Lackawanna County commissioners recognize Laura Boyle, the volunteer founder and executive director of the Youth Arts Coalition, and founder and board president of the West Scranton Youth Center. The organization and its partners offer arts, technology, education, athletics, wellness activities, and enrichment and leadership opportunities to more than 350 young people annually, regardless of financial circumstances. The center also serves as a permanent memorial honoring local veterans and law enforcement officers, and also established opportunities for girls to participate in activities where they have traditionally been underrepresented.
