K-State Foundation officials on Tuesday announced preliminary numbers for its planned Edge 3.0 development, which they said is projected to bring in $28 million in annual visitor spending.
Manhattan city commissioners pressed foundation president and CEO Greg Willems Tuesday for more details, such as the city’s share of tax-increment financing and how the project would affect existing city investments in the North Campus Corridor.
Willems presented Edge 3.0 as a $304-million development that would include the Champions Gate area, research and innovation facilities and housing. The proposed Champions Gate development would include five-story condominiums, a roughly 140-room hotel, a brewery, restaurants and flexible commercial space.
Foundation officials said they’re seeking local, regional and boutique restaurants, with no national restaurant chains currently planned. They said the hotel could be something like an AC by Marriott or an extended-stay property, although they did not say any specific hotel was committed to the project.
